You are cordially invited to attend the 2018 Conference and Convention of the American Council of the Blind of New York (ACBNY). This year ACBNY, together with the Rochester Council of the Blind, (RCB) will be hosting the conference and convention at the Rochester Riverside Hotel, 120 East Main St. Rochester, NY, 14604, 585-546-6400. The dates for the conference and convention are Friday October 5 through Sunday October 7, 2018.
Room rates are $89.00 per night for a single or double. This room rate is available from October 4-7 and must be made as part of your convention registration; please see the 2018 ACBNY Convention Registration Section of the registration form for more information. A single room list will be submitted to the hotel by the convention committee. If your name does not appear on the list submitted by ACBNY, you will be subject to the market rate plus all appropriate sales and room tax.
* Please note that a credit card will be necessary upon check-in. Your card will be charged by the hotel for any incidentals during your stay. ACBNY will not be responsible for incidental charges incurred on your room.
Travel arrangements to and from the ACBNY convention in Rochester, New York are on your own. The local airport is the Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC). There are also Amtrak and long-distance bus services available into Rochester, NY. The Amtrak station and bus terminal are approximately two miles from the Rochester Riverside Hotel. Options for ground transportation to the ACBNY conference and convention are:
- The Rochester Riverside Hotel Shuttle is available for guests travelling to/from the Rochester airport, bus station, and train station. The hotel shuttle is complimentary and is available on demand by calling 585-546-6400 upon your arrival into Rochester.
- The approximate cost for a taxi from the Rochester airport to the Rochester Riverside Hotel is $25.
- There is a local bus service available. More info is available at myrts.com.
- The para-transit provider is RTS Access. To attain visitors status call (585) 224-8330 and select #2 for the ADA coordinator.
For your enjoyment and entertainment pleasure prior to the conference, the RCB is working out the details for a local preconvention museum tour, scheduled for Thursday afternoon. We will have more information closer to convention, please see the registration form for details. Also, for those interested in Emergency Management, the ACBNY resident EM specialist has arranged a tour to the Rochester Emergency Management Center. This tour will go out late morning so be sure to plan your arrival appropriately. This tour will use public transportation on your own. Finally, President Lori Scharff is planning a leadership training for new and current leaders of the organization. This event is by invitation only; please speak with your local leaders if you are or plan to attend this ACBNY training.

This year the Convention committee has assembled a meal plan to assist in offsetting the high cost and additional outlay for meals at convention. The meal plan will consist of a full hot plated breakfast on Friday and Sunday, with an expanded continental spread on Saturday; your choice of lunch on Friday and Saturday, and, a meal ticket for the annual convention banquet on Saturday night. Additionally, we have included the options to pre-purchase the annual scholarship fundraiser ticket for a discounted rate as part of the meal plan; please see the registration form and convention menu for details and pricing.

Refund policy: The registration fee is non-refundable. Refunds for all events are subject to the reselling of the ticket(s) for each event. If you must cancel your room reservation, you MUST do so more than 48 hours in advance of the canceled date(s) through the hotel and provide proof that it was done. Any and all refunds will be addressed after the conclusion of the convention.
